Peggy Middleton Maurer passed away in Peoria, IL, on September 28, 2023, while a patient at ARC Rehabilitation Center, Chillicothe, IL. Mrs. Maurer made a valiant fight through a ten-week period of hospital treatment and rehabilitation, caused by an autoimmune disease, seronegative arthropathy. Mrs. Maurer was born to Elbert and Mary Ruth (Heaton) Middleton on September 19, 1945. She married David L. Maurer, son of Harry and Mildene Maurer on August 14, 1966. Peggy and David Maurer are residents of The Villages, FL, and also maintain a residence in Peoria, IL.

Peggy Maurer is survived by a daughter, Kristen Fields, wife of Paul Fields, residing inDunlap, IL, and by a son, Scot Maurer, husband of Kami Maurer, also residing inDunlap, IL. She is survived by five grandchildren, Ben Fields, Darien, IL, Alex Fields,Dunlap, IL, Abbey Fields, Champaign, IL, Thomas David Maurer, Dunlap, IL, andAshley Maurer, Morton, IL. Mrs. Maurer is additionally survived by a brother, GaryMiddleton (Loretta), Jacksonville, IL, and a sister, Julie Chrislip (Gary), Gilbert, AZ.

Mrs. Maurer was raised on a farm near Lynnville, IL, and attended Jacksonville High School where she graduated in 1963. After graduating from Hardin Business College in 1964, she was employed by OSF Health Services in Peoria, IL.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Sunday, October 8, 2023, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home, 1100 Lincoln Ave, Jacksonville, IL, with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, at Hamilton Catering Services, 110 N. East St., Jacksonville, IL.
