Phyllis A. Evans, 82, of Chapin, IL, died Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born Feb. 11, 1940, in Muscatine, IA, the daughter of Fred and Viola Harris. She married Paul Alvin Evans and he preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 2020. She is survived by two daughters, Chrissy Ruyle of St. Louis, MO and Lesa (Mike) Werries of Jacksonville; two sons, Mike Ruyle (Rene Surratt) of Chatham and Matt Ruyle (Judy Maasen) of Waverly; two special people she thought of as daughters, Jeri Wenneker and Janet Hayes; twelve grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one son, Mark Ruyle. Phyllis was a graduate of Chapin High School and attended Hardin Business College. She had worked at Hertzberg New Method in Jacksonville for 56 years. Her life revolved around her faith. She was a life-long member of Chapin Christian Church where she taught Sunday School. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Blues. She especially loved taking her grandkids to airshows and bargain shopping. The family will host a Celebration of Life Service 11:00 am Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Chapin Christian Church. Private burial for the family will be held prior to the service at Winchester City Cemetery.
