On Thursday, September 26, 2024, Phyllis Ann Barfield Writt, 85 of Versailles, IL began her new Heavenly journey with her loving family at home by her side.

She was born July 8, 1939, in Beardstown, the daughter of Roy and Ruth (Waters) Flynn. She married James Edward Barfield and he preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 2007. She then became a devoted wife of John R. Writt for the last 13 years and he survives.

Phyllis was also a devoted mother and grandmother, and is survived by three daughters, Cheryl (Steve) Elston, Debbie (Randy) Buescher, and Becky Baker; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one great-great grandbaby; and many cherished nieces and nephews, and bonus friends that became family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Barfield; two sons, Guy Baker, and her infant son, James Bert Baker; and three sisters and one brother.

Her daughter, Becky, diligently stayed by Phyllis's side and went above and beyond the call of care. In her final days, Blessing Hospice took excellent care of Phyllis, with special thanks to Keaton Dierker, R.N.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia, with burial at Oakland Cemetery.
