Richard Jackson Gregory, 22, of Jacksonville, IL, died Monday, April 26, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born Jan. 28, 1999, in Bloomington, the son of Scott Douglas and Karen Sue Gregory Sinclair. He was preceded in death by his father on Dec. 7, 2000, and his mother on June 19, 2020. He is survived by his uncles and aunts, William "Bill" (Leann) Gregory, Leanne (Jeff) Dean, Beth Gregory, Jennifer Gregory, and Richard (Connie) Meiers; his biological mother, Melody Bukowski (Jason Smith), and her children, Brian, Dylan, and Bruce; and his biological father, Richard J. Margherio. Jack was a 2017 graduate of Jacksonville High School. While in high school, he began working as a chef at Rudis Grill, owned by his cousins, April and Andy Coop. He enjoyed playing video games, listening to music, and fixing anything, especially cars. He cherished spending time with his friends. Jack was always a giver, and he would be pleased to know that, with his donation to Gift of Hope, he would help to benefit the lives of others. He was loved by everyone who knew him. A private family service will be held, with burial at Jacksonville East Cemetery. Understanding that only 50 people can be in the funeral home at one time, a walk-through visitation for both Jack and Karen will be held 4-6 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2021, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
