Richard E. "Rick" Lyons, 68, of Virginia, IL, died Friday, May 27, 2022, at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia. He was born March 28, 1954, in Pontiac, the son of James H., Sr. and Doris H. Fairow Lyons. He is survived by his brother, James H., Jr. "Jim" (Toni) Lyons; niece, Keri Ann Lyons; nephew, Brad (Mandy) Lyons; his great niece, Emma Grace Lyons; and his great nephew, Tucker James Lyons, all of Virginia; and two fur babies, his beloved cats, Venus and Jewell. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Rick was a graduate of Virginia High School and had been a Paramedic for LifeStar Ambulance Service for 28 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1981 1988, and was proud to have visited the South Pole while serving. He enjoyed participating in Civil War and World War II reenactments and also enjoyed model rocketry. Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held 1 pm Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Memorials are suggested to Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice or Mandys Whine and Bark Animal Rescue.
