Robert M. "Bob" Hayes, 76, of Jacksonville, IL passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital.

He was born Mar. 20, 1948, in Jacksonville, the son of James Debert "Deb" and Helen (Shay) Hayes. He married M. Eileen Anthony on Sept. 26, 1983, in Jacksonville and she survives.

He is also survived by one son and one daughter, James and his wife Lucille Anthony of Belleville and Michelle Wooldridge of Jerseyville; two grandchildren, Isiah and Aleigha Merritt; two great grandchildren, Arlon and Ebella Givens; one sister, Ruth (Bill) Haley of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Bernice (Beeley) Hayes; and his brother, James Hayes.

Mr. Hayes was a 1967 graduate of Jacksonville High School. He worked for Capitol Records, Gruber's Transfer, and retired from Pathway Services Unlimited. Bob enjoyed fishing with his grandson, watching westerns, and collecting coins and ballcaps. He loved his dogs, and he especially loved his family.
