Robert V. "Bob" Kennedy Sr., 83, of Jacksonville, IL, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 25, 1938, in Jacksonville, the son of Oscar Lewis and Dorothy Helen Mills Kennedy. He is survived by two sons and one daughter, Robert V. (Rosie) Kennedy Jr. of Springfield, Lori L. Kennedy of Jacksonville, and Patrick T. Kennedy of Minnesota; four grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and one sister. Mr. Kennedy was a 1956 graduate of Jacksonville High School and then served in the U.S. Navy. He retired after 28 years from Mobil Chemical. He loved trains, his animals, history and NASCAR. Bob was a family man with a heart of gold. The family will host a celebration of life gathering beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, at American Legion Post 279 in Jacksonville.
