Ron Smiljanich, 73, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, at his home. He was born May 2, 1948, in St. Louis, MO, the son of Emil and Nettie Catherine Thomure. He was preceded in death by his parents and fiance, Deanna WarBonnett. He is survived by many good friends. Mr. Smiljanich was a graduate of Crystal City High School in Missouri where he played football, and later graduated from the University of Missouri. He was manager of Ponderosa in both Jacksonville and Macomb for many years. He served as Treasurer for the City of Jacksonville for twenty-one years and was instrumental on many economic decisions for the city. Ron was a past Exalted Ruler of the Jacksonville Elks Lodge and was a proud Eagle Scout. He loved to travel and loved to eat; he was a "foodie" as well as a good cook. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Mizzou Tigers. Ron especially loved spending time with his friends. A Celebration of Life for Ron and Deanna will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Muggsy's Fine Dining in Jacksonville. Memorials are suggested to the donors choice.
