Ronald Lee Troxell, 76, of Virginia, IL, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 28, 2024, at his daughter's home in Columbia City, IN.
He was born August 26, 1947, in Springfield, the son of Clarence E. Sr. and Helen Pauline (Smith) Troxell. Ron married Carol Ann Davis on January 18, 1974, in Beardstown. They renewed their vows on May 10, 2024, after 50 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife, Carol A. Troxell of Virginia; four daughters, Rhonda Roy of Ashland, Heather (Andy) Egolf of Columbia City, IN, Carie Miller of Arenzville, and Kimberli Troxell of Virginia. Lee always wanted four daughters – he got his wish, plus a bonus son, Lucas Gebhardt of Springfield. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Terry (Sharlene) Troxell of Cantrall, David (Barbara) Troxell of Ashland, William (Maria) Troxell of Springfield, Judy Troxell of Victor, WV, Carolyn Kuklinski of Ely, NV, John Troxell of Arenzville, Wayne Troxell of Springfield, Phyllis Shaw of Bath, Veronica (Alden) Taylor of Victor, WV, and Charles "Sonny" (Ruth) Troxell of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Emmett; son-in-law, Chad Pratt; siblings, Clarnece Edward Troxell Jr., Edward D. "Eddie" Troxell, Brenda S. Murphy, and Patsy Hohimer.
Lee was a truck driver for many years, working for Cox Transfer, Roberts Trucking, and Hiel Trucking, before retiring from Sunrise Ag. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1967 – 1969, stationed in Vietnam. He received two purple hearts and many other accolades for his heroic service. Lee was a member of the Ashland VFW for several years. When he was younger, he was a great horseman and was very active in the rodeo. One of his greatest joys was racing and building cars for his son-in-law, Chad. After retirement, he enjoyed camping and taking care of his cows. Lee's family was his life.
