Ruth Ilene Linebaugh, 93, a longtime resident of Jacksonville, IL died Saturday, Apr. 15, 2023, in Las Vegas, NV.
She was born Mar. 25, 1930, in rural Morgan County, the daughter of William and Nina Yeck Lippert. She married Robert James Linebaugh Sr. on June 6, 1948, in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 2001.
She is survived by her daughter, Tara (Clay W.) Young of Las Vegas; her son, Robert J. (Marian) Linebaugh Jr. of Spokane, WA; three grandchildren, April Patrice (Anthony) Sampo of Las Vegas, Caroline Alexandra (Emilio Brian) Gonzales of Las Vegas, and Robert James Linebaugh III of Spokane, WA; four great grandchildren, Blane Sampo, Forrest Sampo, Valencia Gonzalez, Elias Gonzalez; one sister, Sharon Lippert of Jacksonville; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and four sisters, Mildred Wedeking, Katherine Templin, Frances Little, and Helen Ervin.
Mr. and Mrs. Linebaugh owned The Camera Shop in downtown Jacksonville for nearly 50 years. Ruth was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church, the Jacksonville Country Club, the Junior Womans Club, and Passavant Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed golf, bowling, and exercising. She was also an avid reader and she loved crafts.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Jacksonville Memorial Lawn Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Gathering for family and friends will then be held from 12-2 p.m. at Proud Richards, 600 East State St, Jacksonville, IL 62650. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Chapter (Las Vegas Chapter) or the Grace United Methodist Church in Jacksonville.
