Ruth Ann "Ruthie" Martin, 67, of Chapin, IL, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. She was born Dec. 26, 1955, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Russell W. and Anna Fisher Anderson. She married John W. Martin on April 1, 2012, in Chapin, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 2017. She is survived by her mother, Anna Anderson of Jacksonville; four children, Bill (Barbra) Lovekamp of Mattoon, Jenny (Jason) French of Virginia, Stephanie Martin Butler of Milton and Jason Everts of California; eight grandchildren, Kevin Sosamon, Molly Lovekamp, Matthew Drane, Nick French, Zack French, Dalton Butler, Dylan Butler and Jazlynn Everts; and her best friend, Debbie Carpenter of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her father; husband; and her sister, Gail Hahn. Ruth graduated from Triopia High School in 1974 and from Flamingo Beauty College in 1975. She was manager of Bear Cat Junction in Chapin for over twenty years. She went to work for Tarps Manufacturing in Meredosia in 2005, retiring in September of 2022. She was a member of Chapin Christian Church. She had also been a member of Jacksonville Family Campers for thirty years. Ruth loved fishing, hunting and spending time at the lake. She enjoyed keeping up with her grandkids and loved her cats. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville with burial at Chapin Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 10:00 11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital or Chapin Christian Church.
