Sandra "Sandy" Garman, 77, of Jacksonville, IL, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. She was born July 11, 1945, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Walter and Ruby Hopper Mayes. She married Marvin C. "Bud" Garman on Dec. 15, 1963, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 1994. She is survived by two sons, Tony (Julie) Garman of Jacksonville and Christopher (Krista) Garman of Springfield; five grandchildren, Olivia Garman, Hannah Garman, Jonah Garman and Nicholas Garman, all of Jacksonville, and Grace Garman of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Gary, in infancy; and her sister, Sharon Scott. Sandy was a 1963 graduate of Jacksonville High School. She was a homemaker for many years and also worked at Bound to Stay Bound Books in Jacksonville. She loved to fish and crochet, and was proud to have made all the blankets for her grandchildren when they came home from the hospital. She loved all flowers and especially loved growing African Violets. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandkids. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, at Jacksonville East Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association.
