Shirley Jean Lange Patrick, 88, of Pleasant Plains, IL, died Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Medical Center.

She was born July 5, 1935, in Pleasant Plains, the daughter of Fred and Jessie (Hodgson) Lange. She married Darrel Patrick on Oct. 3, 1953, in Pleasant Plains, and he survives.

She is also survived by two daughters, Deneen (Ron) Omer of Springfield and Dareea (Mark) Paiva of Pleasant Plains; four grandchildren, Renna (Tracy) Brock, Rebba Omer (fiancé, Daniel Feldman), Quinton Paiva and Quincey Paiva; and two great grandchildren, Jayce and Jadyn Brock. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Darance Lange Patrick; and three brothers and two sisters, Eugene Lange, William Lange, Bessie Lange, Roland Lange and Patricia Lange.

Shirley was a 1953 graduate of Pleasant Plains High School. After high school, she worked for Franklin Life Insurance. Upon her marriage to Darrel, she became a Navy wife and lived in Norfolk, VA. When they returned to Pleasant Plains, she worked for Horrace Mann Insurance. She began working with Darrel in 1981 when they opened their auto repair business in Springfield. A few years later, Shirley began her own business, Country Memories. When her kids were young, she ran a home daycare and loved all the children and treated them as her own. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and crafting. She loved all animals, especially her beloved pets. Shirley was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant Plains.

The family will host a Celebration of Life Service 11:00 AM Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant Plains.

A graveside service was held 10:00 am Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Pleasant Plains Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Pleasant Plains Rescue Squad or Zion Lutheran Church. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
