Stephen L. Anderson, 56, of Virginia, IL, died Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at his home.

He was born March 19, 1967, in Jacksonville, the son of LeRoy and Gladys (Miller) Anderson. He married Dorothy Michaels on June 22, 1996, in Ashland, and she survives.

He is also survived by his mother, Gladys (Richard) Rust of Virginia; his step mother, Edra Anderson of Jacksonville; four children, Rebecca DeGroot of Virginia, Kegan Anderson (fiancé, Tara Bellitto) of Wood River, Colby Anderson (fiancé, Shane Morris) of Forest City, and Deven Anderson of Virginia; six grandchildren, Kyler, Carter, Katelyn, Evin, Brayden, and Alice; two sisters, Toni Robinson of Philadelphia, and Trisha Law of Argenta; his sister-in-law, Kim Dawson; his brother-in-law, Troy Michaels; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father; uncle, David Miller; nephew, Joe Harris; and sister-in-law, April Jockisch.

Steve was a 1985 graduate of Virginia High School and a 1987 graduate of Quincy Area Vocational Technical Center. He owned Anderson Appliance in Virginia for over 30 years, as well as several other business ventures around Virginia. He was a member of the former First Baptist Church in Virginia. Steve was an avid reader and also enjoyed writing and had three books published.

A memorial service will be held 5:00 PM Friday, May 26, 2023, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia. A time of gathering and fellowship will follow the service until 7:00 PM.
