Susan K. Isenberg, 77, of Springfield, IL and formerly of Jacksonville, IL, died Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville following a brief illness.

She was born Aug 19, 1945, in East St. Louis, IL, the daughter of Amos J. Haas and Gertrude "Sally" (Weber) Haas Geisler. She married Robert Ashby and they divorced. She later married Emmons "Ike" Isenberg and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Robin Ashby (Michael) Overton of Jacksonville, FL and Jennifer Ashby (James) Oliva of Ventura, CA; one granddaughter, Carly Overton of Jacksonville, FL; her sister, Bonnie Lindsey (companion, Jim Smith) of Murrayville; and one nephew, Jason (Cheryl) Lindsey of Jacksonville and their children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her fiancé, Mike Ryan.

Susan's family moved from Canton, IL to Jacksonville in 1957 where she attended the former Turner Jr. High and Jacksonville High School. She remained in Jacksonville for the next 35 years.

Susan was a hairdresser for over thirty years and owned and operated Susan's Main Street Bar in Winchester for twelve years. She retired in 2007 from the Illinois Secretary of State's office after over fifteen years of service.

Susan enjoyed attending craft shows, watching classic movies, listening to the "oldies", having coffee with friends at the YMCA and spending time with her dog Gip.

A memorial service will be held 12:00 PM Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service.
