Tammy A. Boyd, 61, of Virginia, IL, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on December 8, 2024.

Tammy was born on July 31, 1963, in Carthage, daughter to Charles and Nancy (Champion) Fengel. She married Clarence "Ed" Boyd Jr. on April 25, 1992, at Shiloh Church in Virginia. They moved to Springfield in 1995, where they resided until moving back to Virginia in 2021.

She is survived by her husband, Ed, of Virginia; children, Clarence "Edwin" Boyd III and Jennifer Boyd, both of Springfield; sister, Rhonda (Keith) Jenkins of Normal; aunt, Lennie June Doscher of Memphis, MO; sister-in-law, Lisa (Kevin) Lyons of Virginia; nephew, Cameron Lyons of Virginia; several cousins, including Randy (Judy) Byers of Bushnell, and Peggy (Terry) Homan of Ursa, IL; and her fur-babies, June and Summer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Janet Boyd; father-in-law, Clarence "Fuzz" Boyd Sr.; paternal and maternal grandparents; several aunts and uncles; cousins; and her fur-babies, Susie and Minnie.

Tammy attended Illinois State University in Normal, graduating with her bachelors degree in business administration in 1985. She worked at SIU School of Medicine-Neurology in Springfield for 20 years since October 2004, as an office support staff. In 2022, she transitioned to work as the Neurology Department's Clerkship Coordinator, where she enjoyed working with the medical students greatly. She previously worked at Isringhausen Insurance and Horace Mann in Springfield.

Growing up, Tammy was a talented cornet player where she expressed her love for music and enjoyed playing in the Virginia Community Band. She enjoyed attending her children's sports and band performances, spending time with her family, watching the Game Show Network and Hallmark movies, knitting, and going to live music events, especially to see her husband play piano and guitar.

A funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia. The family will meet friends from 10-11 AM prior to the service. A burial will take place at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
