Verne L. Cochran died Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at his home in Jacksonville, IL. He was born April 3, 1927, in Indianapolis, IN, the son of Clark and Anna Shafer Cochran. He married Glenna Fae Green on August 27, 1950, in Jacksonville, and she preceded him in death on June 19, 2017. He is survived by two sons and one daughter, Steve Cochran of Virginia, Debbie (Jerry) French of Jacksonville, and Ron (Beth) Cochran of Auburn; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Verne was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one grandson, Michael French. Verne worked as a contractor in the Jacksonville area for many years. He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge. Verne also enjoyed spending time with his family and enjoyed his grandchildrens many activities. A funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville. A visitation will be held 10-11 am prior to the service.
