Vickie Jean Barfield, 71, of Meredosia, died Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at her home. She was born May 19, 1951, in Independence, MO, the daughter of Gerald Gobel and Emma Jean (Unland) Hawkshaw. She married Steven J. Barfield and he preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 2021. She is survived by her mother, Jean Hawkshaw of Meredosia; daughter, Stephanie (Michael) LeSieur of Quincy; granddaughter, Jalyn Frevert of Meredosia; one sister, Carolyn (Steve) Ruyle of Meredosia; two brothers, Gary (Brenda) Gobel of Versailles and Jerry (Tammy) Gobel of Camdenton; and two half-sisters, Dawn (David) Knoblock of Quincy and Genna (John) Van Der Heide of Perth, Australia. She was preceded in death by her father and husband. Vickie graduated from beauty school in 1970 and did hair for 46 years. The people who came into the salon became her extended family instead of just customers. She met the love of her life, Steve, and they were together for 46 years until his passing. Vickie loved to travel and spend time with her family. Some of her favorite memories were seeing Jalyn doing competition cheerleading and modeling. She was a very proud Grandma. The family will host a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, July 16, 2022, from 6 pm 9 pm at Ridge View Winery, 529 200 N. Ave, Mt. Sterling, IL 62353.
