Vivian "Cindy" L. Hazzard, 63, of Virginia, IL, passed away at 8:11 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Springfield Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born August 23, 1959, in Springfield, to Kenneth and Patsy (Painter) Shores. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Lisa Kay Gansbauer; two brothers, James A. Shores and Albert L. Shores; and son-in-law, Christopher Michaels. Cindy is survived by her daughter, Brandy Shores of Virginia; two granddaughters, Alexis and Harmony; one grandson, Caden Michaels; two sisters, Kimberly (Mike) Corbett of Chatham and Patricia (Timothy) Fleming of Springfield; two sisters-in-law, Maureen Shores of Springfield and Roberta Langford of Loami; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cindy worked as a sterilizing technician for St. Johns Hospital and retired after 25 years. Cindy enjoyed spending time with family and being with her grandkids. She also enjoyed spending time with her best friends, boyfriend, Kyle Elias of Virginia, and her daughters best friends, Jackie Holsman, Ashley Reese, Hidie Ham, whom she considered as her own daughters. A celebration of life gathering will be hosted by the family at 12 noon Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Chandlerville.
