W. Carl Murray, 75, of Jacksonville, IL died Monday, Jan. 9, 2023, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 6, 1948, in Evanston, the son of Joseph P. and Fannie May (Dixon) Murray. He is survived by his longtime partner and soul mate, Kellie Credit of Jacksonville; two children, Moniqueka Jones and Maurice (Jasmine) Jones of Chicago; seven grandchildren, Tiffany, Darnell, Jordan, Travon, Stefon, Maurice Jr., and Xavier Jones; one great grandson, Mason Jones; three sisters, Betty Dishmon and Sheila Mack of Chicago, and Beverly Bost of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Carl Jones; and five brothers and sisters, Lucille Murray, Patricia Todd, Joseph P. Murray III, James D. Murray, and Donna Strong. Mr. Murray was a coach bus driver by profession that specialized in transporting children to various field trip locations. He enjoyed bowling and all sports, especially the Chicago Bears and White Sox. Carl was a believer with a firm faith and foundation in the Lord, and always said that when God called he would answer. A graveside service will be held 1 pm Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Jacksonville East Cemetery. His cousins, Pastors Julio & Vincent Andujo, will be officiating the service.
